Yomio Features to Know: Receipt Capture, Budgets, and Expense Review

Yomio records expenses from receipt scans or manual entry, then lets you review and organize those records. Premium adds monthly budgets, exports, family sharing, and Yopilot. It does not connect to bank accounts, so it will not import bank transactions automatically.

This guide explains the current workflows and the limits to check before you rely on an expense record. Plan names, scan quotas, and features can change; check the current Yomio pricing page for the latest terms.

Start with a receipt or a manual expense

Use receipt capture when you have a paper or digital receipt to record. Yomio processes the image and can return receipt fields and line items. Review the merchant, date, total, and item details because recognition can vary by image and receipt format.

Manual entry is available when you do not have a receipt or prefer to enter the expense yourself. This is also the way to record transactions that do not have a paper receipt, such as a cash purchase.

Yomio does not import card or bank activity. If you want a complete spending record, add expenses that are not captured from receipts manually.

Review extracted details before you rely on them

OCR turns text in an image into fields that an expense app can store. A recognized value can still be missing or wrong, so treat the scan as a starting point for review.

For each receipt, check that:

• The merchant and transaction date match the receipt.
• The total and currency match what you paid.
• Line items and amounts are present and aligned correctly.
• The expense has the category and notes you want to use later.

If a field is wrong, correct the expense record where the app allows it. Keep the original receipt when you need evidence for a reimbursement, tax return, warranty, or business record. The recordkeeping rules depend on your location and reason for keeping it.

Organize expenses with categories and notes

Categories can make recorded expenses easier to review. Choose or correct a category based on your own purpose for tracking the purchase. A category is an organizational label; it does not decide whether a purchase qualifies for a tax deduction or reimbursement.

Add a note when the merchant and receipt do not explain the business or household purpose. For a business expense, keep any supporting records required by your policy and local rules.

Use budgets to compare a plan with recorded spending

Premium includes budget tracking. Set a monthly budget that fits your own plan, then review it against expenses you have recorded. A budget is only as complete as the records you add: because Yomio does not import bank transactions, add non-receipt expenses manually if you want them included.

Start with one or two categories that matter to you. After a month, compare the planned amount with the records and adjust the next plan if your circumstances have changed. Do not treat a budget target as a universal recommendation.

Export records when you need them elsewhere

Premium includes CSV and PDF exports. Use an export when you want to review or share records outside the app. Check the exported columns and totals before using them in bookkeeping or a report.

An export is a file, not a live accounting connection. Yomio does not automatically post expenses to QuickBooks or Xero. Follow the receiving product's current import instructions and confirm that the imported records map to the right accounts.

Share a family plan

Premium family sharing supports up to five people total, including the owner. The owner can invite up to four additional members. Check the current pricing and in-app family settings for the terms that apply to your plan.

Before sharing, agree which expenses you will record and how the group will use them. A shared expense record can contain personal purchase details, so use the feature only with people who should have access under your account's current sharing settings.

Ask Yopilot about recorded expenses

Yopilot is a Premium AI assistant for questions about expense records available in Yomio. Use it to explore your own records, then open the relevant entries to check the details. An AI response can be incomplete or wrong, and it cannot verify that your records are complete or decide whether an expense is deductible.

Do not use a generated answer as the only support for a tax, reimbursement, or accounting decision. Keep the underlying expense and receipt available for review.

Keep a streak and review achievements

Yomio includes streak and achievement tracking. These features can make the act of recording expenses more visible, but they do not make a record complete or accurate. Use them as a prompt to maintain a routine, then check the expense details separately.

Know the current scan limits

The current plan guide lists five free receipt scans for the lifetime of an account and up to 100 scans per month on Premium. Limits and offers may change, so confirm them on the current pricing page before choosing a plan.
